Jorge Garrofé
Jorge Garrofé Álvarez is a versatile artist and designer from Valencia, Spain, whose work merges fine art with graphic design. His creative journey began at the School of Arts and Artistic Trades of Valencia, where he earned a Master’s degree in Advertising Illustration. He further enhanced his education in graphic representation systems and modern design at institutions such as the School of Artisans of Valencia and the Ferrer i Guardia Foundation during the 1990s.
His professional career took off as a designer at Artífice, a Valencia-based company, an experience that inspired him to establish his own studio, Gigantestudio. Since then, he has completed hundreds of projects, including campaigns for a wide range of clients.
Alongside his design career, Jorge has cultivated a significant artistic practice, focusing primarily on oil painting and exhibiting his work in numerous galleries. His artistic contributions have also extended to the film industry, where he has worked on set design and the graphic production of title credits.
In recent years, Jorge has dedicated himself to graphic printmaking, specializing in engraving and intaglio printing techniques. It is in this discipline that he finds his greatest artistic expression, using metal as a medium to transform his thoughts and convey his inner consciousness. His creative process involves combining various "bites" on metal with subsequent treatments, resulting in pieces of profound personal value.
Rather than creating repetitive series, Jorge experiments with unique materials and methods, enriching each work and transforming it into a one-of-a-kind piece imbued with artistic significance and individuality.
