Today, we were honored to welcome the brilliant Belgian artist Koen de Clercq to our gallery. Koen, with whom we’ve had the pleasure of collaborating for several years, brought along his latest masterpiece—a striking oil on canvas that perfectly embodies his love for nature, particularly the sea. His passion for painting waves and the powerful energy of water has become his signature, earning him widespread recognition for his incredibly realistic style.
About Koen de Clercq: Inspired by Nature
Koen de Clercq’s journey as an artist began at the age of 10 with his first oil painting. Born in Flanders, Belgium, and influenced by the likes of Breughel and Rubens, Koen’s early work was shaped by the moody skies and landscapes of his homeland. However, his current work draws most of its inspiration from the beautiful Costa Blanca, where he captures the raw power and beauty of the waves in breathtaking detail. His super-realistic paintings are not just visually stunning but also transport viewers to the very shores he paints, with every ripple and shadow meticulously crafted.
Koen’s artistic process balances technical skill with emotion. Whether working in his studio or outdoors, he uses classic oil painting techniques to create compositions that highlight the interplay of light, shadow, and motion in nature. His goal is to engage the viewer, creating moments of reflection and admiration for the natural world.
